postpartum care
Mothering the Mother
Service Description
The postpartum period is an extremely sensitive and formative time for every mother. Not only the massive drop in hormones, but also all the new situations and challenges in caring for a baby often require someone to be there with help and advice. There is also a household to look after, laundry to do, a nutritious diet to ensure, maybe even taking the dog outside or playing with the older sibling. My job in postpartum care is to take on everything that is preventing the parents from settling into the new family dynamic and getting to know the wonderful new person and finding out how each need can be met. Examples: - Help around the house (cooking, washing up, tidying up, vacuuming, doing laundry) - Doing the shopping or other errands - Doing activities together with the older sibling - A conversation, a listening ear or answering questions - Maybe your partner is at work/not there and you want to take a shower in peace and prepare for the day - then I will take over the babysitting and attentive care of your child. During postpartum care, I can not only help you with my specialist knowledge and my own experience as a mother, elementary teacher and social worker, but I also offer you very individual support tailored to your needs with my 4 different options: 1. Hourly (€37.00/per hour) 2. Per day (€255.00/8 hours) 3. 40 hours per week (€1220.00/40 hours) 4. Day and night for 5 days in your home (€2100.00/120 hours) The last and fourth option offers the advantage that I can always be at your side in the first few days when it is most urgently needed. The first few nights are often the most difficult until you have figured out how things work best for the baby and parents and what you need to achieve this. Whether it's a crying baby that can't be calmed down, a leaky diaper and the need to change all the clothes, or a baby covered in vomit and a mother covered in vomit who wants to freshen up - I'm there to help, no matter what time of day. Unlike a midwife, I'm not allowed to check on the physical healing process and well-being of the baby or mother, so I strongly recommend a midwife's support during the postpartum period!
